How We Help: Education First
Unlike other Will programs for First Responders, we focus on education rather than simply creating basic documents based on a generic questionnaire. Why is education a critical first step to creating a good estate plan? It’s simple - no two people are exactly alike, and no two families have exactly the same needs. This is why creating estate planning documents based on a standard template (online or through another free will program) is usually insufficient to address the First Responder’s goals for their family and assets if something should happen to them.
We believe that your estate plan should address more than just what happens to your money and personal belongings when you die. It should also address your goals for your family’s future if something happens to you as well as any potential conflicts your death or disability could create within your family. A good estate plan also documents your wishes for your healthcare and financial management if you become seriously injured and are unable to make those decisions for yourself.
Getting educated about the law and what happens if you die or become incapacitated before creating your estate plan gives you the knowledge to make the right choices for your family and ensures that your goals will be met and your family will be taken care of after you’re gone.
